ARF invests in practical, community‑focused programs that help families today and open doors for tomorrow. Below are our first three focus areas, with room to grow as new needs and opportunities arise.
Energy Savings Program (ESP)
Free whole-home weatherization improvements that lower power bills and improve comfort for families who qualify. ESP provides an in‑home assessment and tailored upgrades – such as insulation, air sealing, smart thermostats, and efficient lighting – at no cost to participants.
AgTech Innovation for Rural Communities
To make digital learning translate into real jobs in Alabama, ARF supports new AgTech efforts. This includes AgTech curricula, partnerships with farmers and rural employers, and tools for rural entrepreneurs to adopt smart farming and e‑commerce.
Early pilots will begin in selected rural communities.
Rural Broadband & ADEN Infrastructure
ARF helps power the Alabama Digital Education Network (ADEN) by funding broadband and fixed‑wireless solutions at learning hubs and in nearby homes and small businesses. We also support access to digital devices so students and educators can fully participate in a digital‑first curriculum.
