Strengthening Alabama Communities for Today and Tomorrow

The Alabama Resiliency Fund is a nonprofit that brings partners together to improve homes, expand digital access, and create opportunity in communities that need it the most.

Who We Are

The Alabama Resiliency Fund (ARF) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization focused on strengthening low‑ and moderate‑income households in communities across our state. We invest in projects that make homes safer and more efficient, support healthier living conditions, and open doors to learning and jobs.

Our mission is simple: empower communities, bridge gaps, and build a brighter future for all Alabamians.

Featured Program – Energy Savings Program

Free Home Weatherization Upgrades to Lower Your Power Bill

The Energy Savings Program (ESP) gives eligible families no‑cost upgrades that help lower your energy bills and make homes more comfortable. Trained contractors visit the home, look for air leaks and other problems, and install improvements like better insulation, air sealing, smart thermostats, and efficient lighting at no cost to the resident.

Typical upgrades can lower energy use by about 25%, saving families an estimated $520+ a year, while making homes more comfortable in every season.

What We Do

Energy Savings Program – Weatherization & Efficiency

We provide no‑cost home weatherization upgrades in selected communities. After an in-home energy assessment, these upgrades can include LED bulbs, faucet aerators, low‑flow showerheads, air sealing, insulation, and heating and cooling tune‑ups or replacements where needed.

AgTech Innovation in Rural Communities

In rural areas, ARF backs efforts that connect digital skills to agriculture – the state’s largest industry. We support the development of ag‑technology learning, connect learners to jobs with farmers and rural employers, and help small businesses adopt smart tools and online sales.

Rural Broadband & Connected Learning

ARF supports the Alabama Digital Education Network (ADEN) by helping bring broadband access and digital devices to learners and educators. This work helps close the digital divide so that every student can access modern learning tools, no matter where they live.

Why This Matters
Many Alabama families face high energy bills, older homes, and limited internet access. In Alabama, many families live in older homes that waste energy and lack good internet.
  • Lower-income households can spend about three times more of their income on home energy than other households – and in many communities, energy bills can take 10% or more of household income, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.

  • Alabama homes use about 30% more electricity than the U.S. average, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

  • A large share of Alabama’s homes were built before 1980 – often before modern insulation and high-efficiency heating and cooling standards.

In many underserved communities, students try to learn in homes that are both energy‑inefficient and lack reliable internet. These barriers limit learning, health, and economic mobility.

ARF exists to tackle these challenges head‑on, starting with the Energy Savings Program.
